Na jaren in het buitenland woon ik nu al geruime tijd in Bennekom in Nederland. Het is vlakbij de bossen, de heidevelden en de Rijn. Het is een heerlijke plek om energie en inspiratie op te doen.
Mijn schilderen is een voortdurende verkenning van herinneringen, verlangens en emoties, verweven met levendige kleuren en organische vormen. Ik laat me inspireren door de schoonheid van de natuur, de altijd boeiende menselijke relaties en de magische wereld van verhalen. Elk schilderij weerspiegelt een stukje van mijn innerlijke wereld en van hoe ik naar de buitenwereld kijk.
Door te werken met acrylverf kan ik snel en expressief werken. Daardoor kan ik direct inspelen op impulsen en emoties die tijdens het schilderen opkomen. Telkens neem ik even afstand om de tussenfases te analyseren. Zo wordt ieder werk een dans tussen intuïtie en ratio.
Vaak gebruik ik ook andere media, zoals inkt, potloden, pennen en zelfgemaakte collages. Dat geeft me de vrijheid om mijn werk spontaan tot leven te brengen. Door het snelle drogen van de acrylverf, kan ik veel lagen verf opbrengen. Door die speelse en ook wel risicovolle werkwijze (er is altijd wel een uitdaging) komt er gewoonlijk verrassend werk naar voren.
Ik nodig je uit om zowel van een afstand naar mijn werk te kijken, als ook om dichterbij te komen. Om de subtiele nuances en ook het achterliggend verhaal te ontdekken en om je eigen interpretaties en gevoelens te laten opborrelen.
Kunst is voor mij een vorm van verbinding. Het is een verbinding met wat diep in mij leeft, en minstens zo belangrijk: de verbinding met jou als kijker. Ik hoop dat mijn werk je rust en troost biedt.
After many years abroad I’ve been living for quite some time in the Netherlands, Europe, in a pleasant village named Bennekom. It is close to the woods, the moors and the river Rhine. It’s a great place to get some energy and inspiration.
My art is a profound exploration of memories, desires and emotions, intertwined with vibrant colors and organic shapes. I am inspired by the beauty of nature, the ever fascinating human relationships and the magical world of stories. Every work reflects a piece of my inner world and how I view the outside world.
Working with acrylic paint allows me to work quickly and expressively. It allows me to respond directly to the impulses and emotions that arise while painting. I always take a moment to analyze the intermediate phases. In this way, every work becomes a dance between intuition and reason.
Often I use other media as well, such as ink, pencils, pens and self-made collages. That gives me the freedom to spontaneously bring my work to life. Due to the quick drying of the acrylic paint, I can apply many layers. This playful and also risky working method (there is always a challenging phase) usually results in surprising work.
I invite the viewer to not only look at my work from a distance, but also to come closer. To discover the subtle nuances and the underlying story, and to allow your own interpretations and feelings to bubble up.
For me, art is an opportunity for connection. It is a connection with what moves me deeply, and just as important to connect with you as the viewer. I hope that my work gives you peace and comfort.
